March 16th & 17th 2015
Sunshine Village conditions in March. It has been a lean year for snow so I have not written many posts this year due to the conditions not changing from month to month. On the weekend we at last got some snow. It was an exciting time and most of Calgary must have taken a sick day as the hill was as busy as the weekend and this was a Monday. It turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. We set of half an hour earlier than normal but with the large crowds it was mostly skied out by the time we arrived. The kicker was though there must have been rain before the snow as it was extremely icy under the new snow surface. As you will see from the photo’s we made the most of the conditions and tried a run on every chair looking for the elusive best powder conditions. Paris Basin was pretty good and also Freefall on Goats Eye. Tuesday was a blue bird day and the base had softened a little but still cruddy and icy on lots of runs.
