Rummel Ridge Hike

Cutline start of hike

Cutline start of hike

June 29th Monday

Rummel Ridge is an unofficial name for a small peak over looking Rummel Lake. The trail starts from Engandine Creek on Hwy 742 the Spray Lakes Road. The creek is just before the turn off to Mt Shark and Engadine Lodge. Park on the left side of hwy if coming from Canmore. The picture above shows the cut line into the forest. We took a turn to the right and crossed the creek and bushwacked up through the forest. The easy way is to follow the cut line and trail to the summit. The plan was to see if it was possible to descend from the summit into Rummel Lake. This is a traverse across from the col and meet up with the Rummel Lake Pass trail. The photo’s below show the route.

The traverse starts from the snow patch on the Col and stays just above the trees around a rock out crop and across a rocky avalanche rubble slope.

From Rummel Lake we went down the left side of the creek which is not available in winter due to avalanche danger. There are a couple of pictures in the gallery showing a waterfall that you pass. The trail eventually comes out at the wooden bridge that crosses the creek .
