June 7th Saturday.
Rocky Mountain Vaults Historic Hike is a good way to experience a bit of Bow Valley History with a small hike along the Trans Canada Trail T.C.T. from Heart Creek Trail Parking. Park on the right hand side on entering and follow the road/trail to the intersection shown above. A couple of small washouts have to be detoured around just follow the flagging. I did not measure the distance but it only takes 30 mins. With a side trip to the old mountaineers cabin and a walk into the cave you are looking at 1.5 to 2 hrs round trip.To add to the day why not walk up Heart Creek as well or walk all the way through to Dead Mans Flats. This would require a car at each end as it is 9.5 km one way. See some of the old publication sales literature see the last scans.
This is at the intersection photo above
Easy walking on the old road.
A short distance from Hwy 1 and parking.
Don’t forget to take a bright flashlight.
On the way back checkout this old hut turn left across the logs on the road or go straight ahead if doing it on the way up.

Presumably, the vaults were never finished?
No the cave is as you see it now, nothing more than a couple of short tunnels.Well worth the short hike to take a look
