June 3rd Friday 2016.
There are 4 un-named peaks in the Mt Bryant area. All the hikes /scrambles are in the Daffern Book vol 2. This description is for Peaks 3 & 4 , Map Ref 427439 & 436425 only but the route to 1 & 2 would be fairly similar.
Upper Canyon Creek Trail head for Peaks 3 & 4 are located on the Powderface Trail Road. From Hwy 40 just passed the Tourist Info Center turn left onto the Sibbald Creek gravel road Hwy 68. Travel 12 km to the right turn on to the Powderface Trail. Continue on for a further 19 km over the Upper Canyon Creek bridge and pull in on the left passed the bridge. Follow the creek up stream to the first fork at 1.6km. To stay out of the gravel for longer periods stay on the left side up to the first fork. Go up the first fork watershed for about 1.8km then reach a second fork in the creek to the right for todays destination the left would take you up to Mt Bryant and the tarn. See the picture of the route up to Peak 3 at 0.5km. Then at the summit continue down to the col between 3 & 4.To reach Peak 4 it is another 130m. Lots of loose scree on a steep slope keep left on edge to use the rocks. From the summit it is all down hill to the creek. Follow the ridge down and the natural lie of the land will lead to the right to avoid the cliff band seen in last photo. We took a game trail near the bottom to the left but when we lost the trail we dropped down in the creek just before the first fork.
Distance return 11.4 km Time return 6hrs ( inc 30 min lunch ) Elevation Accumulated gain 830 m Elevation to Summit 588 m Loss 157m Gain 133 Summit height 2330 m
