This hike out of Andrew Nagaro’s book is 5 Km south of the Fortress Gas Station ( get your ice cream here ) on Hood Creek .No pullout, park on the right by the crash barrier then cross the road. Trail is on the left of the creek. Follow it up until it disappears and then forge up. Packenham Jr is just but a small knoll below the imposing Mt Packenham. We ventured a little further by going down to the col to the east and then heading up under Mt Packenham cliffs. A nice hike with views into Kananaskis upper lakes and north to Fortress. Across the valley is Mt Lawson and the popular hike up Lawson Ridge. Grizzly peak under Mt Evan Thomas is the next door neighbour to the south. Pasted that the Opel Ridge.
Distance return 6.2 km Time return 5 hrs ( inc 30 min lunch ) Elevation Accumulated gain 963 m Elevation to Summit 875m Summit height 2545 m
