Lake Agnes with Mt Whyte & Col to Mt Niblock

Lake Agnes with Mt Whyte & Col to Mt Niblock

August 12th Monday

Set  out from Canmore with rain looming. On arrival at Lake Louise  clear skies were enticing us  to go for the summit.

The trail starts at the Lake Louise lower parking lot. Take the trail to the Lake Agnes Tea House. Follow the lake trail and head up the scree cone to the water fall.

The rock band at the waterfall.

Keep to the right of the main fall but angle a little to the left half way up and pass through a little piece of cascading water.

The next section is the open bowl stay to the right to miss most of the big rock boulders and head for the left side of the next rock band but keep close to it as you go up.

Open bowl keep right. Then left past the small rock band

After that section watch out for the cairns. The trail is defined for a while but the secret is to stay left and head in a direct direction for the Col next to the Niblock Peak.

The hard work is now over. Leave your pack and head for the summit. Again left is the way to go.Do not go to the top of the scree.
