June 19th Wed. & Sept 4th Wed.
The hidden garden basin. Very few people come into this area and I am sure Parks Canada would be happy to keep it that way,but if you have done everything else up the Borgeau Lake area this is an alternative.
Re-did this hike on Sept 4th when the weather was perfect and the snow had gone. See contrasting pictures and pictures of how to access this trail from Bourgeau Trail.
Started out the day before the big storm in some rain. The hike starts from the Borgeau Lake Parking Lot just after the Sunshine turn off. You must climb through a large high animal gate to get to the trail.
The rain became quite steady as we gained elevation. I was glad I brought my umbrella as well.
The lake was still partially frozen but our turn to the right was before the Lake.
The first 5 m of the trail looks like an old fire road but the disapears. Take a right between two large boulders and the trail re-appears. It is very narrow and slippy when wet. Climb up through the trees by a small rock face and when it opens up bear right.( See Pictures).
The next few photos show the reason we turned around on this day.A combination of poor visibility and a large amount of snow with rain blowing into our faces.
The new photo’s show how beautiful it is on a summers day.
Pic above shows,if it was clear, Mt Brett left,Mt Pilot ahead and Massive Mountain center right.
The red weed on the far side is the route up to the other ridge
