The middle of October and the weather is better than early August. Lawson Ridge trail head is found at the south end of the Spray Lakes road. The best way to travel there is from Hwy 40 and turn at the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park and then right onto Hwy 642 Smith Dorrien, Spray lakes Road. The gated entrance road is 3 km from the right turn to Hwy 642.The dam is 1.2 km at that point turn right over the outlet creek and follow the trail up through the woods. Views are few as you plod up the steep slope but eventually you are rewarded with views of the Kananaskis Lakes the Opal Range and Kent Ridge and beyond.
