Lawrence Grassi Peak is a prominent peak from Canmore it sits behind The Canmore Wall and the Ships Prow depending on where it is viewed from. The trail head is from Hwy 742 the Smith Dorrien Road at the Goat Creek Parking also the trail head for Ha-Ling. Cross the road walk past the Ha Ling Trailhead and head down the canal for 2.5 km. There is a big cairn to mark the spot. Picture below. Head off through the trees. Meet the creek stay left up the creek for a few meters then back into the trees for the steep climb. Exit the trees and see the route to the summit. Try staying on the ridge bits for best traction. The last hundred meters to the summit is the ball bearing on slab section. It’s easy up but deathly slippy coming down. Great views from the summit into the Spray Valley and the Goat Range and views into Canmore and all along the Bow Valley. We had a bit of fun climbing on the crag just below the summit to the east. That is where the marmot was climbing around with the Three Sisters behind.
