GR571003 Picklejar Lakes

At the top of scree gully looking at Gr571003

August 28th 2018

Gr571003 An un-named peak over the ridge from Picklejar Lakes. Start at Lantern Creek day Use Area. See link for Picklejar Lakes https://willski.ca/picklejar-lakes/ We crossed towards the scree gulleys on the left after the first lake. The choice was not good and doing this again we would look at the last gully right, which we came down as the way up. The gully down had some great soft heal sliding scree. So going up could be difficult if you cannot keep off the moving stuff. At the top of the ridge the view opens up to Peak GR571003 a big open cirque. A little loss of 40 m elevation before the slog up to the summit 400 m . Some fresh snow had fallen, yes it’s August but no smoke today so big bonus. Nice views from the Peak but still a little hazy from smoke and low cloud. Note for the Ramblers Club this is rated an Off Trail hike 4 more like a Scramble 5. Thanks John D. for the lead.
