December 2 & 4 2014
On Tuesday and Thursday we went up to Lake Louise to see how the conditions were after the big snow storm of the previous week. The roads going north are in terrible condition. Hard packed ice and very bumpy. The trip home is much better as the south bound lanes are smooth. It is hard to understand why this has happened. Anyway temperatures are warming up so we can hope the salt mix starts to work.
Back to the conditions at Lake Louise. The new snow has transformed the hill. Most of the major runs are open and in good condition .The snow making continues on the popular runs. The women’s Downhill Race is scheduled this weekend so it is hard to get back from the Summit Platter unless you go over to the backside. The skiing from the Top Of the World down the front side is in very good condition. I did see some rocks appearing as the snow is starting to get worn away, but way better start than most seasons. So as usual do your snow dance and with another 15 to 30 cm of new snow everything will change again.
