First time out on the skinny un’s and I choose Blueberry Hill lead by Helen Read for the Meanderthals. After a long soak in the hot tub now feeling warm and relaxed. Conditions are super for early season. We set off from Elk Pass Parking up the steep hill and under the power line. – 21 c on the car on arrival but soon felt warm before descending down to the junction to Fox Creek. At the Hydroline junction even my thumbs were warm. Pushed on through Fox Creek Valley and were soon at Blueberry Hill and picnic table junction. Made it up the first steep hill but was loosing grip. When I came to the blue steeper sections found walking as quick as doing the herringbone. Very cold at the top but the views were magnificent. Gulped down some hot Ovaltine and a chicken sandwich and headed back down with cold hands and feet. Managed to control the speed going down with some superb knobbly knee action. Tried Fox Creek on the way back and it is snowmobile packed but very lumpy and uneven par for the course I guess. Back at the car in 3:30 hours.
