Biking down the Goat Creek Trail to Banff and then back along the Legacy Trail to Canmore was the plan. It turned out to be a little shorter in length but longer in time.
About to set off from the Trailhead above Canmore on Hwy 742 Spray Lakes Road. This is a two car shuttle. One to take you up the other in Canmore to get the vehicle back from the Trailhead.
Today it was nice and dry, but not always this smooth. As Kerry found a large rock on one downhill section before the bridge and did a 9 out of 10 somersault over the handle bars. Apart from a few scrapes and what turned out to be a separated shoulder he did manage to continue.
It was at this point in the journey that the second misfortune occurred. On the way up the hill from the second bridge with 9 km to go and 9 km back fate struck again for Kerry. His derailleur gear broke off his bike and was not able to peddle anymore. Luckley the bike was still able to coast downhill. Every downhill we pushed him off and helped him along the flat parts.
Just a short stroll before the downhill into Banff. Then it was beer and bus time, on the Roam back to Canmore.
Distance to Banff 22.0 km Height lost 270 m
Hey Bill… nice to see your busy as you were here at the plant (ha ha). You just have better roads and our water has more bite. We were just reminising during our only slow point of turnaround and your name came up. I’m sure you don’t miss the turnarounds and the tons of work. Keep up the pics as we (the crews) check up on you on your site.Hope all are healthy and maybe we will drop in on you next time we cruise through Canmore.
Thanks for the comment. Glad you thought I was busy at work. Watch out for my latest adventure ” Biking the Highwood Pass “
This was definitely a challenging day for Kerry and his bike. What a sport to join us on June 1st to Castle Junction!!!! Sure glad you “ROAM’d” back…..a great service for sure.
