So off to Yamnuska. It was the long weekend and with Kananaskis being flooded out everyone descended on Yamnuska. The route is very easy to follow from the parking lot just east of Hwy 1X on the old Hwy 1A. Follow the trail past the Info board and across the Quarry Road. The trail rises sharply through the trees to the branch where the sign gives you the choice of the climbers route left or hiking to the right. The traverse comes back out at this point from the left.

There is now another tricky bit of scrambling before the slog to the top.

The scree is really good until after the the corner then it gets very slippy on the thin loose rock.

After the you turn the corner around the end of the mountain you are now are walking under the front face.

When you come to the scree slope any of the routes down will do but we took the first one. This is some of the best scree slope jumping you can get and just when you think it is over it carries on,so don’t empty your boots. The path goes to your left and passes a nice little waterfall to freshen up on a hot day.

It is then just a walk back to the parking lot coming out at the sign for climbers and hikers.
