Spray River Loop

Waldhaus Pub at the 15th Tee

June 24th Sunday.

The hike starts by driving through the entrance to the Banff Springs Hotel on Spray Ave. This is the popular cross country routehttp://willski.ca/cross-country-skiing-the-spray-river-loop-from-banff-springs-hotel/ ( see blog in winter )      and the end of the bike ride down from Goat Creek above Whiteman Gap Canmore.  The old road is an easy walk and with only 175m of elevation gain it would suit most hikers. The views are through the trees of the Rundle Range and the Spray River on the right Sulphur Mountain Ridge. The distance to the bridge is 5.7km and 5.1 km to return back on the other side of the river to the golf course. I did see a bridge at  the bottom of the old Quarry route but have not tried that way. Today we walked through to the golf course. Make sure to turn left at the sign. The trail comes out at the 15th fairway so make sure no one is teeing off. Cross the road bridge to the golf course and up the cart path to the Waldhaus. Patio open on the weekend. Follow the cart path up instead of the stairs and reach the hotel and back to the car.
