Skiing the Back Bowls Whitehorn Lake Louise

April 15th Wednesday 2015

Skiing the Back Bowls of Whitehorn Mountain at Lake Louise on a sunny cloudless day with 17cm of fresh snow. Wow we have  waited all winter season for this. We started off with a few warm up turns down Ptarmigan and then did it again because it was so nice.

The second time around we cut across to Raven after upper Ptarmigan and ran through some of the moguls.

Next it was over to the Top Of the World Chair and over to the Platter. Everyone was doing the same runs so we had to wait our turn to get up to the top of Whitehorn Mountain.

Views were incredible and so was the snow.

Every rope taken as the sunny day enticed everyone to the summit. First run was down Whitehorn #1 a wide open face but some how a crazy skier managed to get in my way and took my ski off half way down. No damage done and was soon on my way.

Second run was down Whitehorn Ridge after the forty-five minute run around to get back.

Third run was down one of the Chutes I think it was Gully B. A little steeper but great snow makes a great skier. Tired legs in the afternoon gave way to an early beer at the Kokanee Lodge and a little sun tanning on the patio.
