June 7th Saturday.

Rocky Mountain Vaults Historic Hike is a good way to experience a bit of Bow Valley History  with a small hike along the Trans Canada Trail T.C.T. from Heart Creek Trail Parking. Park on the right hand side on entering and follow the road/trail to the intersection shown above. A couple of small washouts have to be detoured around just follow the flagging. I did not measure the distance but it only takes 30 mins. With a side trip to the old mountaineers cabin and a walk into the cave you are looking at 1.5 to 2 hrs round trip.To add to the day why not walk up Heart Creek as well or walk all the way through to Dead Mans Flats. This would require a car at each end as it is 9.5 km one way. See some of the old publication sales literature see the last scans.

  1. Presumably, the vaults were never finished?
