Johnston Canyon Winter Walk

Frozen Falls at Johnston Canyon

March 12th 2017

Johnston Canyon is a few kilometers south of Castle Mountain Junction on Hwy 1A. This is a very popular place both in summer and winter. The winter makes the Canyon come to life with spectacular views of ice and snow. Ice cleats are recommended. Although it is a short walk it does take more time than normal due to the narrow walkways and the icy conditions.  The trail does continue on to the Ink Pots which is a popular summer hike. The Ink Pots can also be accessed from Moose Meadows which cuts out the crowds of Johnston Canyon.
