January 9th  Thursday

First time for me to go Skiing at Pipestone Pass Cross Country Trails at Lake Louise. In fact the turn off is the next right after the Louise Ski Hill and Village on Hwy #1. The conditions were perfect not much sun but a few cms of new snow on a well groomed trail. The temperature was -6C  at the trail head. I used a light blue wax  and it worked well all day.

We took the Blue Trail counter clock wise so we could come down the big hill to Pipestone Lake. The arrow on the Map shows were the Green Trail takes off to bypass the hill.To extend the day we went down the Green Trail and cut right to go past Pipestone Lake then went up the Pipestone Trail back to the intersection and then returned down the hill. Then took the short connector across the lake to the Pipestone Blue Trail back to the car.

Approx 18km
