Conditions at Lake Louise April 2015

Larch Run

Thursday April 2nd 2015

Returned to Lake Louise for the first time since February 18th. The reason for not returning was the lack of fresh snow and the icy conditions. The recent weather has not been kind to Sunshine Village as well, so a look at Lake Louise was well over due. Lake Louise is reporting 33cm in the last 7 days but there is no sign of it on any of the runs we went on. As you can see from the photo’s some areas are really struggling for coverage. The warm weather has caused the freeze thaw cycle so if it does not warm up hard frozen conditions apply. Conditions change every day and although in Sunshine Village the conditions are always stable on the Divide it was nice to get back to the lake. By the way it must have been an April Fools joke about painting the bottom of Lake Louise that beautiful blue colour as it is still frozen.
